Our love for porridge is reignited with this poached pear porridge recipe!

Making porridge is quick and easy; that’s another reason why we love it so much. Poaching your pears can take a little time. So, in the spirit of efficiency and making life that little bit easier, make a batch of poached pears to get you through the week. They will keep in the fridge!

Ingredients:

Base:
1 pear – peeled with stem taken off
1 cinnamon stick
½ cup Organic Maple Syrup
½ L water
1 cup Organic Rolled Oats
1 tsp vanilla powder
2 cups Almond Milk
½ cup granola
¼ cup Organic Sultanas
1 tsp cinnamon
Honey or maple syrup to drizzle on top

Method:

  1. In a saucepan, place pear, cinnamon, maple syrup and water and cook on a medium heat until the pear is so soft that you can pierce it with a knife with ease. This will take around 30 minutes.
  2. In a small saucepan, cook oats, milk and vanilla powder on a low heat for up to 5 minutes until you have your desired consistency. You can add a little more milk if needed.
  3. Serve porridge in 2 bowls.
  4. Remove pear from water and slice in half.
  5. Sprinkle sultanas and granola onto your porridge.
  6. Place each pear halve on top the porridge.
  7. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and sprinkle cinnamon on top.

*Tip: blend your milk the night before so it thickens up overnight and makes your porridge extra creamy in the morning!
